Dorothy Lennig, Esq.

Dorothy J. Lennig is the Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP), the Maryland agency responsible for coordinating the state's public safety strategy. She oversees the administration of more than $300 million in state and federal grant funding that supports public safety initiatives across Maryland and advises the Governor and state leaders on public safety policy.

Before her appointment by Governor Wes Moore, Lennig served for more than 30 years as Executive Director of the House of Ruth Maryland Legal Clinic. Throughout her career, she has worked to support victims of violence and advance laws and public policies that strengthen public safety and reduce violence.

During her tenure at the House of Ruth Maryland Legal Clinic, Lennig:

• Led the Clinic's domestic violence litigation program.
• Served as the organization's chief legislative advocate before the Maryland General Assembly.
• Served as Vice Chair of the Governor's Family Violence Council.

Lennig has also held several leadership roles, including:

• Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's Family and Juvenile Law Section Council.
• Chair of the Baltimore City Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team.
• Co-Chair of the Bar Association of Baltimore City's Family Law Committee.
• Co-Chair of the Bar Association of Baltimore City's Task Force on the Effect of Domestic Violence on Children.

Recognized for her expertise in public safety policy, Lennig served on the public safety transition teams for both Governor Wes Moore and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott.

Lennig earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Development from Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law.
