Data Dashboards

The Office works with law enforcement agencies to facilitate data collection efforts to increase public safety, increase accountability, promote transparency, and ensure compliance with mandated requirements.

The Office receives data from public health and public safety partners, as well as open-source resources, to provide insight on the overall well-being of youth and families in Maryland and youth interacting with the criminal justice system.

We work with local correctional facilities to make sure they submit required reports. We also share results from the Justice Reinvestment Initiative. This national project uses data to keep the public safe and spend less money on corrections. Then, we use those savings to fund programs that stop crime and help people stay out of jail.

The Office utilizes data collected from the Maryland Judiciary Case Search, a public resource to access court records from the Maryland Judiciary, to provide transparency on trends in case outcomes and criminal charges.

The Centers of Excellence advise the Office on efforts that support Maryland communities in improving the criminal justice system’s response to individuals with substance use disorders and mental illness. Their efforts aim to reduce the incarceration of individuals with behavioral health needs and strengthen connections to appropriate treatment services. In this role, the Centers collaborate with state and local partners to complete jurisdictional Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) mapping reports and to implement crisis intervention model programs.

To further support this work, the National Drug Use Dashboard will soon be available to show how drug use is changing across the state. This information helps us improve how we support and treat people who need mental health or substance use care.
