Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a serious crime that affects communities throughout Maryland. The state's transportation network, including major airports, rail service, and bus routes, along with large public events, can make Maryland a target for traffickers.

The Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy coordinates statewide efforts to prevent and respond to human trafficking. The Victim Services Unit works with State agencies, local governments, law enforcement, and community partners to:

  • Coordinate State policies and protocols to combat human trafficking.
  • Develop and deliver training for State and local government personnel and law enforcement.
  • Collect and analyze data to better understand the nature and scope of human trafficking in Maryland.
  • Collaborate with organizations involved in anti-trafficking efforts, including the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force.
