Provisions for Match Requirements

Subrecipients may meet grant match requirements using cash contributions, in-kind contributions, or a combination of both, as allowed by the grant program.

Cash match: Funds contributed by private organizations or state and local governments. For example, an eligible portion of an employee's salary may be used as a cash match.
In-kind match: Eligible goods or services donated to support the project. Examples may include volunteer services or donated supplies and food.
Federal funds: Funds from other federal sources generally may not be used to meet match requirements.
Project-related contributions: All cash and in-kind contributions used as match must directly support the project's goals and objectives.
Documentation: Subrecipients must maintain records that clearly identify the source, amount, and date of each matching contribution.
Compliance and reporting: Matching contributions are subject to the same applicable requirements as federal program funds and must be documented through required financial and programmatic reports.
