Grant Programs - Projected NOFA Release Month

The primary purpose of the Adult Day Reporting Center program is to enable a local jurisdiction to implement a Day Reporting Center to provide community-based services and treatment to individuals under parole/probation or pretrial supervision in order to reduce recidivism, jail/prison populations, and corrections-related costs.

The Body Armor for Local Law Enforcement (BARM) program reimburses non-state law enforcement agencies for 50% of the cost of bullet-resistant body armor for sworn officers.

The Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP) provides states with funding to implement firearm violence reduction strategies at the intersections of behavioral health and domestic violence including but not limited to state crisis intervention court proceedings and extreme risk protection orders (ERPO).

Child Advocacy Centers use multidisciplinary teams to coordinate investigations and services for child abuse cases. Their goal is to reduce trauma for children while ensuring they receive effective support and protection.

The Child Sex Trafficking Regional Navigator Program expands services to help Maryland jurisdictions implement the Child Sex Trafficking Screening and Services Act by improving screening, coordination, and support for affected youth.

The Children’s Justice Act Committee provides grants to states to improve the investigation, prosecution, and judicial handling of cases of child abuse and neglect, particularly child sexual abuse and exploitation, in a manner that limits additional trauma to the child victim.

The purpose of the Community Program fund is to assist local law enforcement agencies with establishing community programs and agencies of local government in establishing violence intervention programs. The Community Program Fund is a program that is established and sponsored by local law enforcement agencies.

The Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Site-Based Program (COSSUP) funds efforts to combat illegal drug activity, expand prevention and treatment services, and support diversion programs that connect eligible individuals to treatment instead of the justice system.

The primary purpose of the Domestic Violence Centers Grant Program is to provide funding to domestic violence centers to respond to incidents of family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence and to develop and strengthen victim services in cases involving such crimes.

The Domestic Violence Unit Pilot Program offers law enforcement the resources to meet District and Circuit Court guidelines for efficient and timely serving of protective orders, reducing and minimizing the time between the issuance of ex partes and protective orders and their entry into the MILES/NCIC database.

Byrne Justice Assistance Grants support a broad range of state and local criminal justice initiatives critical to Maryland's ultimate goal of safe communities. Funds are intended to reduce existing gaps in service that impact violent crime, crime victims, enforcement, prosecution, adjudication, detention, and rehabilitation.

This grant program funds local providers that offer emergency shelter and support services for domestic violence victims and their families. It also promotes coordinated responses through partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, courts, and social services.

Grant funds assist law enforcement agencies and/or prosecutors who have a demonstrated need, combined with a viable plan to address firearms related violence in their jurisdictions.

This funding supports the investigation and prosecution of Internet Crimes Against Children by providing grants for personnel, training, and equipment to law enforcement agencies, the Maryland ICAC Task Force, and child advocacy centers.

The Legal Services for Crime Victims (LSCV) Fund provides grants to help Maryland crime victims obtain legal representation using funds from unclaimed restitution.

Local Warrant Apprehension & Absconding Grant Program support law enforcement agencies across the State of Maryland with reducing the number of open warrants, especially warrants for violent crimes, and the apprehension of individuals who have absconded from a court-ordered drug and/or alcohol treatment facility.

The primary purpose of the Markell Hendricks Youth Crime Prevention and Diversion Parole Grant program is to provide grant assistance to local law enforcement agencies for diversion programs or youth engagement programs in high-crime areas.

The Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) program is envisioned as a coalition of criminal justice agencies that collaborates and coordinates tactics, resources, and intelligence through comprehensive data sharing, cross-jurisdictional partnerships, effective policies, and supporting technologies.

The Maryland Domestic Violence Program funds local organizations that provide emergency shelter and support services for domestic violence victims and their families while promoting coordinated responses with law enforcement and community partners.

The Maryland Victims of Crime Fund, administered by the State Board of Victim Services under the authority of the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy, provides for advocacy and support services to victims of crime through the creation of new ideas and the enhancement of existing programs in Maryland.
