Montgomery County
Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Mapping
In May 2024, the Centers of Excellence facilitated a SIM mapping workshop in Montgomery County with stakeholders from the behavioral health and criminal legal systems. The workshop produced a SIM map (below) and an accompanying report, illustrating how adults with behavioral health needs may come into contact with and move through the criminal legal system.
Through the workshop, participants identified resources and gaps at each intercept. They also identified priorities for change in the county. Based on a voting process that allowed each participant three votes, the top three priorities included the following:
- Enhance the reentry process.
- Establish stabilization services.
- Create a multidisciplinary team or teams to coordinate and inform across intercepts.
